The Argentine Patagonia is in the south end of the American continent. It is integrated by a group of provinces with similar characteristics in climate, geography and landscapes, those provinces are: Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur. With a surface of 787.291 km2 they represent a third of the national territory. When the National Census of 1991 was carried out, 1.481.580 people inhabited it, 4.5% of the total of the Argentina. It is the less populated region of the country.

The Patagonian region generates 84% of the country oil production. The fourth part of the installed electric power comes from this region and as well as the 77% of the national gas.

Besides the wealth in nonrenewable resources, it supplies the national and world markets with the characteristic fruits of temperate climates (apples, pears, and fine fruit), there are also important vine undertakes in the provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén.

Sea, plateau, plain and mountains; andean forest and steppe; rivers and deserts make truly unlosable landscapes. Whales and condors, marine wolves and penguins, caiquenes and ñandúes, gumps and pumas. It has a very wide variety of fauna. The wonderful landscapes that compose it make of the Patagonia a place privileged by the hand of God. Visitors from all over the world are getting to know her with more assiduity. The tourist future of our region is really important, and this is something our government should think too.
